"You don't need to understand how a bridge is built to cross it."
In this Beacon, you'll build a real, working mini app โ using nothing but words.
No code. No technical skills. Just a clear idea and a prompt.
You'll use a tool called Lovable, which turns your description into a fully functioning web app โ one that you can actually open in a browser and share with anyone.
This is one of the most surprising things AI can do today. Let's try it.
Lovable is an AI-powered app builder. You describe what you want, and it writes all the code for you โ then instantly publishes your app online.
You don't need to know anything about programming. You just chat with it, like you would with an AI chatbot.
๐ Go here to get started: https://lovable.dev
Sign up for free โ no credit card needed.
A few things to know about the free plan:
You're going to build a simple daily habit tracker โ an app where you can tick off small habits each day, like drinking water, going for a walk, or reading for 10 minutes.
Go to https://lovable.dev and sign up (or log in if you already have an account).
On the main screen, you'll see a text box where you can describe your app. That's all you need.
Now sit back and watch. Lovable will write the code and build your app โ usually in under a minute. When it's done, you'll see an "Added habit tracker" card appear in the chat. Click the Preview tab to see your app running.
Try ticking off a habit in the Preview tab โ it works! When you're ready to publish, click the share icon in the top right corner. A Publish panel will open. Work through the steps:
You'll see "Your app is live!" โ with a real link like good-deeds-today.lovable.app. Click View app to open it in a browser, or Share to send the link to anyone.
If you'd like to tweak something, just type a follow-up message โ for example:
Or:
Lovable will update the app instantly.
Screens and menus may look slightly different โ that's normal. Just explore and you'll find your way. ๐
Look at the app running in the preview panel โ or open it in a browser tab.
Notice that the checkboxes actually work. When you tick a habit, the counter updates. This isn't just a picture of an app โ it's a real, interactive web app, built entirely from your description.
The bigger insight: you just built software by writing a sentence. That's what "no-code AI" means โ and it changes what's possible for anyone, regardless of technical background.
About the free plan credits:
Each message you send uses roughly one credit. You have a limited number of free credits each day โ so plan your prompts thoughtfully. One well-written prompt is usually better than five quick ones.
Your app has a real link:
Lovable publishes your app online automatically. The address will look something like yourproject.lovable.app. You can share it with anyone โ they can open it in a browser, no download needed.
You can always keep editing:
Come back when your credits refresh and keep refining. You might add more habits, change the colours, or try a completely different app idea.
Some ideas if you want to try another app:
Each one is just a prompt away.
You just built and published a real web app โ without writing a single line of code.
That's not a small thing. Not long ago, this would have taken a developer days to create. You did it in minutes, with a sentence.
Next up โ Beacon 27: AI agents unleashed
You've used AI to create content, images, music, video, automations, and now apps. In the next Beacon, we look at something a little different โ AI that can take action on your behalf. What is an AI agent, and what can it actually do?
No rush. Come back whenever you're ready. ๐
